Problems logging into SAM?

Your Internet Browser shuts down after you click Login:

Enter your username and password, then press and hold down the CTRL button on your keyboard and press the Logon button.

If this works then you have a pop-up blocker on your computer.  You will need to add the Sam6i website your allowed pop-ups.  Url to add is https:\\ms2300.activeschool.net

If this doesn't seem to fix the problem then you have another Pop Up Blocker running.  Most of your Toolbars have pop up blockers built in.  You will need to add the two Url's list above to allowed sites or remove the toolbars.  To remove the toolbars go to MY COMPUTER, CONTROL PANEL, ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS, and look for anything in the list of installed programs that has the word "Toolbar" in it.  Remove this and your problem should go away.

Your Internet Browser screen turns gray and has Done in the status bar at the bottom left of your screen.

Your current Internet Explorer version is below version 6.  You will need to install Internet Explorer 6 (IE6)  Click here to download IE6. Click "Run' when the File Download window opens.

More Commonly Asked Questions for SAM6i

* Problem:  After typing in my username and password and clicking “Login,” Internet Explorer closes out and I am back at my desktop.

* Solution:  This is most likely due to pop-up blocking software, which must be turned off or removed in order for SAM6i to function properly.  If you are running Windows XP, your Internet Explorer has a built-in pop-up blocker that may be the problem.  To fix this, open Internet Explorer and click on the “Tools” menu.  Click on “Pop-Up Blocker,” then select the “Turn Off” option.

If you are running another version of Windows, or if your Internet Explorer pop-up blocker is already turned off, then other pop-up blocking software may be installed on your system.  To check for third-party pop-up blocking software, go to the Windows “Start” button and select “Settings,” then click on “Control Panel.”  When the Control Panel opens, double-click on “Add/Remove Programs;” this will display a list of all programs installed on your system.  Scroll though this list and remove any pop-up blocking software.

Most software such as “Google Toolbar,” “Yahoo Toolbar” or other Internet Explorer toolbars have built-in pop-up blockers.  The pop-up blocking functions of these toolbars must be turned off, or the toolbars must be removed all together.

If the above steps do not fix the problem, have your computer technician run an adware/spyware removal tool (such as Ad-Aware) on your system.

* Problem:  When I generate an MSIS file and open WinZip, there are no files in the WinZip window.

* Solution:  This happens when the size of your temporary internet files exceeds the storage limit set on your system.  To resolve this,

§         Open Internet Explorer

§         Click on the “Tools” menu

§         Select “Internet Options”

§         In the Internet Options window, click on the “General” tab

§         In the “Temporary Internet Files” section, click the “Delete Files” button

§         A dialogue box will appear asking you to confirm the deletion of all temporary internet files, with a checkbox labeled “Delete All Off-line Content.”  Check this box and click “OK” to delete all temporary internet files from your system.

* Problem:  After I login to SAM6i, the items listed in the menu frame are spaced far apart, look strange or do not show up at all.

* Solution:  This is a problem that occurs with older versions of Internet Explorer, which can be fixed with a simple upgrade to Internet Explorer.

Verify the version of Internet Explorer installed on your system.

§         Open Internet Explorer

§         Click on the “Help” menu

§         Select the “About Internet Explorer” option

* Problem:  When I try to print a report, I get the error message “Cannot Start Print Job” or “Print Job Failed to Load.”

* Problem:  When I try to generate an MSIS file, the “File Download” box does not appear, or seems to be blocked.

§         Select “Internet Options”

§         At the top of the Internet Options window, click on the “Security” tab
