Hancock County DECA Attends District V DECA Conference

 

Hancock County Vocational Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism DECA Chapter attended the DECA District Career Development Conference at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Jeff Davis Campus, in Gulfport on January 8, 2008.  It was the first conference for the 2007-2008 competitive season. Sixteen members, including Ms. Lady Anne Bruce, DECA advisor, attended the conference. Members representing Hancock County DECA in competition were Tiffany Carver, Amanda LeMay, Charmi Patel, Brandon Oliva, Joli Fricki, Ali Jordan, Ashtan Lane, Courtney Wilson, Bianca Malley, Brandee Brown, Brooke Ladner, Riley Reed, Sarah Ladner, Derinda Green, and Mia Kapidzic.

 

The competitors in each event took a written test and participated in an oral role-play with a judge.  The test and role-play scores are combined and the final score determines who will advance to the next level of competition. 

 

Hancock County DECA returned home with thirteen winners.  Finalists include Tiffany Carver; Apparel and Accessories Marketing, Amanda LeMay; Business Services Marketing, Charmi Patel; Hotel Lodging Management, Joli Fricke; Restaurant and Food Service Management, Ali Jordan; Retail Merchandising, Courtney Wilson and Bianca Malley; Buying and Merchandising Management Team, Brandee Brown and Brooke Ladner; Hospitality Services Management Team, Riley Reed and Sarah Ladner; Sports and Marketing Management Team, and  Derinda Green and Mia Kapidzic; Travel and Tourism Management Team.

 

These students will advance to competition at the State DECA Career Development Conference in Jackson, February 20-23. Students who qualify at the state level will advance to the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida.
