Richard Loper, District 1

Richard D Loper Jr. was elected in November 2007. He was elected to begin a 2nd term in January 2011 and will serve through December 2016. Loper is the Chief Field Appraiser for the Hancock County Tax Assessor's Office. He has three children in the Hancock County School system. He looks forward to the challenges of being a school board member and continuing the improvement of the Hancock County School System.
 
Rose Acker, District 2
Rose Acker took office in January 2005. She was elected to begin a 2nd term in January 2011 and will serve through December 2016. She  retired from the Hancock School District and is enthusiastically involved in activities with the Slidell Church of Christ. She and her husband, Walter, have five children – all previously graduated from the Hancock County School District. Acker notes that her love of the district compelled her to run for the office of the Board of Education. She looks forward to an active association in the district and the surrounding community for many years to come.
Billy Thomas was elected in September 2008. He was elected to begin a second term in January 2013 and will serve through December 2018. Thomas has over thirty-five years of experience as a public school educator, including several years as a physical education teacher in Hancock County. He has a bachelor’s degree in education, a master’s degree in health and safety, and an educational specialist degree in school administration. His goal is to be part of a team that provides the highest quality of education for each child in the Hancock County School District.
 
Jennifer Seal, District 4
Board President

Jennifer Seal began her term in January 2007. She was elected to begin a second term in January 2013 and will serve through December 2018. Seal is the Quality Enhancement Plan Director and a Mathematics Instructor at Pearl River Community College-Poplarville. She and her husband, Michael, own and operate Seal's MarketPlace on Highway 43 in Hancock County. Seal looks forward to serving on the Board that manages the resources of the Hancock County School District and to helping ensure that each and every child receives the best education possible.
Danita Holladay, District 5

Danita Ladner Holladay began serving in January 2015. She is married to Rick Holladay. They have 4 sons, Richard, Grant, Evan and Mason. One son is at Hancock High School; one at Hancock Middle School and two are at Hancock North Central Elementary. She is an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Dedeaux. She is the Executive Director of Acorn Adoption Agency. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work.

Additional Information
Qualifications for becoming a school board member include being a registered voter and a resident of the district for which he/she is a candidate. Board members, who serve 6-year staggered terms, receive annual pay of $2,400 per year, plus per diem. To be placed on the board's agenda, a written request must be submitted to the Superintendent at least five (5) working days in advance of a regularly scheduled meeting.
